ThunderRidge High School Names Matt Demerson Head Boys Soccer Coach
Highlands Ranch, CO — ThunderRidge High School Athletics is proud to announce the hiring of Matt Demerson as the new Head Coach of the Boys Soccer program.
Demerson brings a strong combination of recent high school coaching experience, competitive collegiate playing background, and a demonstrated commitment to developing student-athletes both on and off the field. He most recently served as an Assistant Coach for the Valor Christian High School Men’s Varsity Soccer program, where he played an integral role in team preparation, player development, and program culture.
During the 2024 season, Demerson helped lead Valor Christian to the second round of the CHSAA 5A Playoffs, finishing 19th in the state. He worked directly with more than 20 student-athletes through technical training, positional development, film review, and tactical analysis while assisting with practice planning, scouting reports, and in-game adjustments. His collaborative approach with coaches, athletic staff, and families reflects a commitment to building well-rounded student-athletes.
“Matt is a relationship-driven leader who brings energy, organization, and a deep understanding of the game,” said Josh Stephenson, Athletic Director at ThunderRidge High School. “His experience developing players, preparing teams for postseason competition, and building strong team culture makes him an outstanding choice to lead our Boys Soccer program.”
Demerson’s background as a player includes competing collegiately at both the NCAA Division III and club levels. He was a member of the Mary Hardin-Baylor University men’s soccer team that captured the 2018 American Southwest Conference Championship, contributing significant varsity minutes as a true freshman. He later competed with the University of Arkansas Men’s Club Soccer program, helping the team win the 2019 Region IV Championship and advance to the NIRSA National Championships.
Demerson holds a Bachelor of Arts in Communications from the University of Arkansas, where he was a member of the Lambda Pi Eta Communications Honor Society and earned Dean’s List recognition.
